UAlbany Biology's Forni and Scimemi Recognized with Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Scholarship

The UAlbany Biology Department is proud to recognize Paolo Forni and Annalisa Scimemi for receiving the University at Albany’s Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities.

The Chancellor’s Awards are SUNY-system-level honors conferred to acknowledge and provide system-wide recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence. These programs underscore SUNY's commitment to sustaining intellectual vibrancy, advancing the boundaries of knowledge, providing the highest quality of instruction, and serving the public good. Through these awards, SUNY publicly proclaims its pride in the accomplishment and personal dedication of its instructional faculty, librarians and professional staff across its campuses. 

Professor Forni is a world-renowned scientist investigating genes, gene regulatory networks and neural development processes with applications that are leading to understanding disruptions in developmental processes that can lead to congenital and degenerative neurological disorders.

Associate Professor Scimemi studies the functional properties of central synapses and their role in neuropsychiatric disorders.   Currently her research efforts focus on the study of Alzheimer’s disease.
