R&E Week 2023: UAlbany & New York State Pave the Future of AI Research

Event Highlights

R&E Week 2023 established a new institutional platform to showcase the University’s research impact and strengthen connections across academia, industry and government.

During the inaugural SUNY AI Symposium, 80 students and dozens of faculty and researchers from across the SUNY system presented artificial intelligence (AI) research spanning health, energy, and other disciplines.  

Gov. Kathy Hochul also announced the formation of the Center for Emerging Artificial Intelligence Systems (CEAIS), a $20 million collaboration between UAlbany and IBM to power new AI research projects using the IBM AIU Spyre Accelerator.  

The partnership enables UAlbany faculty, students and IBM researchers to leverage IBM’s latest hardware to tackle real-world problems while advancing our understanding of AI.
