Winter has definitely arrived here in the Capital Region. Winter Storm Fern dropped foot of snow, and grounds crews were out in force moving snow and clearing sidewalks. Laura Wilder received honorable mention for the 2026 CCCC Research Impact Award for her latest book, Tracing the Impact of First-Year Writing: Identity, Process, and Transfer at a Public University. The Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) is a leading national organization devoted to research, teaching and scholarship in writing and rhetoric at the college level.
In a new article published in the journal Annals of Bioethics & Clinical Applications — “Today Our Health and Our Principles are Challenged on Many Fronts Simultaneously, Where Can We Go from Here?”— David Hoffman discusses principles of bioethics in light of policy changes affecting healthcare access, and the problem of misinformation in health-related communication.
Jeanette Altarriba, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, received the Senior Career Excellence in Mentoring award from the Midwestern Psychological Association, a chapter of the American Psychological Association. The award will be presented in April at the MPA’s annual meeting in Chicago.
