...and the Cynthia Fox Award goes to Carmen Serrano!

Carmen Serrano (SPN) spearheads the BILPOC initiative creating opportunities for faculty who are Black, Indigenous, Latinx, People of Color

The Cynthia A Fox Award recognizes excellence in service to the LLC department and it's no wonder that the award this year goes to Professor Carmen Serrano who's been seen doing much service all over campus!  Professor Serrano regularly takes on additional service in the department, filling gaps whenever needed, volunteers her time and energy to promote Spanish activities and the department overall. She regularly encourages others in the department, willingly offering them her assistance, time and that extra special Carmen Serrano energy, positivity and can-do attitude!  She’s coordinated a Spanish cooking club for students and cooking demos around Hispanic cultures' foods.  She constantly promotes LLC to the community, participating in countless diversity committees, and most recently in her BILPOC (Black, Indigenous, Latinx, People of Color) work and her student podcast series.  She is always a strong advocate for LLC students, finding opportunities for them, connecting them with others, and being a superlative cheerleader, enabler and supporter.  Thanks Professor Serrano for all your effort and your positive example!
