
Using NASA Satellite Data to Assess Impacts of Climate and Air Quality
ALBANY, NY (July 15, 2022) –Temilayo Adeyeye and Tabassum Insaf, both based at the New York State Department of Health, are using state-of-the-art tools— including satellite data from NASA— to assess the impact of climate and air quality in communities where air monitoring does not take place. Their work has helped modify warnings for heat-related illness in NY and continues to provide data that informs public health policy and practice.

Shaiza Bushra's Internship Experiences: From Classifying Injury Severity to Improving Stroke Care in Developing Countries
Shaiza Bushra is a Master of Public Health (MPH) student who moved to the United States from Pakistan in 2019. She will be graduating with her MPH in Public Health Practice this August, achieving her goal to complete her graduate degree in the United States.

UAlbany Engineering Building to Anchor New Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Initiative
The University at Albany today began a new era of teaching and research with the launch of Albany AI, a $200 million public-private supercomputing initiative based out of UAlbany’s soon-to-be-renovated College of Engineering and Applied Sciences building. Buoyed by $75 million in state funding to complete the transformation of the former Albany High School into a state-of-the-art engineering college and fund the construction of a supercomputer, the Albany Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Initiative (Albany AI) will significantly expand New York’s capacity in this major emerging field.

Graduation Spotlight: Mercy Adeola Best, MPH
Mercy Adeola Best recently graduated from the School of Public Health with a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health Practice. The biggest challenge Best faced while earning her degree was the death of her sister Grace, who passed away from a seizure. She was the reason Best chose to complete the internship component of her academic program in epilepsy awareness.
