Faculty Expertise and Achievement

Dr. Xuecong Lu holds the position of Assistant Professor in Information Security and Digital Forensics at the School of Business, University at Albany, State University of New York. His research is concentrated in the areas of cybersecurity, human-computer interaction, and data analytics. Dr. Lu has contributed to the academic landscape with over 30 peer-reviewed articles published in esteemed journals and conference proceedings, including the European Journal of Information Systems, International Journal of Information Management, Information & Management, Scientific Reports, and Frontiers in Neuroscience, among others. Actively engaged in the academic community, Dr. Lu has participated in renowned international conferences such as the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), and American Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS). His conference paper, titled "Understanding Online Review Helpfulness: A Color Theory Perspective", earned the "Best Talk Award" at the Human-Computer Interaction Pre-ICIS Workshop in 2021. Dr. Xuecong Lu has also been an active contributor to academic services, serving as a reviewer for premier journals, including Information & Management, Decision Support Systems, Behavior & Information Technology, and Internet Research. Additionally, he chaired a conference session at AMCIS 2022 and presently holds the role of Review Editor for the journal Frontier in Neuroscience. Beyond his academic contributions, Dr. Lu was a Research Fellow at the McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre (MDTRC), where he engaged in industry collaborations to address business problem-solving at the MDTRC lab.
