Faculty Expertise and Achievement

Ronald Ladouceur has a broad and varied academic and professional background.

Since 2013, he has taught branding, marketing, and entrepreneurship at the University at Albany, at both the graduate and undergraduate level. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the Department of Communications and Media where he has taught courses in media studies.

In addition to his academic work, Ladocueur is a career branding professional. He is the owner and chief creative force at POSTMKTG, a branding, web development, and promotions agency founded in 2012 in Schenectady, New York. POSTMKTG’s clients have included the Lally School at RPI, Purchase College, Siena College, the University at Albany Graduate School of Business, Albany Medical Center, and numerous other educational institutions, financial service organizations, businesses, and nonprofits.

Research Interests

Ladouceur’s recent academic work has focused on the intersection of branding, popular science, and culture in the U.S. in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. His published work ranges from a cultural history of early American biology textbooks to studies of the parallel development of national branding and “Lost Cause” mythology.  

Ladouceur maintains a personal academic journal, Textbook History (https://textbookhistory.org), with more than 50 articles published to date (mostly) inspired by history, anatomy, and biology textbooks published in the United States between 1845 and 1970, including the 135+ textbooks in the author’s personal collection.

  • Ladouceur is a Board of Directors member for The Society for Commercial Archeology
  • He is also a former Board of Director member for the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York
  • He also volunteers his agency’s time in support of several human service organizations, including the Underground Railroad Education Center in Albany and the Joshua Project of Schoharie County
