Bret Kauffman

With extensive expertise in operational excellence, lean process improvement and data governance, he brings to his faculty role at University at Albany a career that bridges industry leadership and academic engagement. He led operational improvement initiatives at SABIC, a global petrochemicals leader, where he optimized processes, enhanced data integrity and aligned systems with strategic objectives. 

As a Six Sigma–trained practitioner, he developed mastery in lean methodologies, supply chain optimization, master data management, ERP systems and organizational change management. Since leaving SABIC in 2025, he has founded Kauffman Process Solutions, LLC, serves as a representative of Trimingham Advisors, and supports small and mid-sized manufacturing companies through the Manufacturing Extension Program of the Albany Center for Economic Growth.

His scholarly approach combines rigorous analytical frameworks—process modeling, value stream mapping, systems thinking and quantitative analysis—with practical, implementable insights. This methodology reflects his commitment to bridging academic theory and organizational reality, supporting meaningful operational and strategic change across sectors. He also serves as adjunct faculty at Clarkson University's Reh School of Business and Yeshiva University's Sy Syms School of Business.
