Isabelle Cavazos (she/her) is a Mexican-American, first-generation educator who is passionate about uplifting multilingual learners as they navigate their higher education journeys.
Originally from Central Florida, she has taught ESL, academic writing and first-year experience courses across the country with a background in learning center administration.
Isabelle holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She enjoys running, thrifting and reading too many books at a time.

Course description: Isabelle’s Writing and Critical Inquiry course explores how using our linguistic resources creates new meanings and connections in writing. The writing process involves making deliberate choices with language in considering audience, genre, purpose, and more. Writing across languages and language varieties prepares writers to engage in this process while also considering cultural competence, code-switching and social dynamics to convey meaning. By highlighting the benefits of embracing our linguistic diversity, we will expand possibilities for academic writing and develop our voice as writers while examining literary and scholarly texts as mediums for inquiry.
