Parking
Visitor parking is available off Collins Circle, $5 per vehicle. Free parking is available on Saturdays.

Event Parking
Free parking will be available for select events in the State Quad Student Parking Lot one hour prior to and one hour after the event. Accessibility

The uptown campus accessibility map highlights parking, public transportation, and accessible pathways and entrance to the Museum. The University Art Museum is located on the Academic Podium in the Fine Arts building with stairs and a ramp located at the main entrance. 

By Car
Visitor lots are located approximately 500 feet from the Museum’s main entrance and meet current ADA standards for wheelchair access. The closest accessible parking spaces are located on the northeast side of the Fine Arts building on East Carillon Drive, approximately 275 feet from the Museum’s main entrance.

Public Transport
The Mass Transit system offers bus service on all UAlbany and Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) buses. The UAlbany bus system covers a wide area including the uptown campus. The nearest bus stop is located at Visitor Lot 1. Please see routes servicing UAlbany here.

Galleries
The Museum’s main entrance is accessible and equipped with an automatic opener. For people using mobility aids or those who prefer to avoid stairs, the second level of the Museum is accessible by an elevator in the Fine Arts building located approximately 120 feet from the Museum’s interior exits. Please notify Museum staff who can assist with interior exit and reentry. One manual wheelchair is available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

For Visitors Who Are Blind or Have Low Vision
Large print gallery guides can be made available at entry to the Museum. Lighting levels in the galleries may be low depending on the requirements of the artwork. Museum staff can be made available to conduct a walkthrough of exhibitions on request.

For Visitors Who Are Deaf or Have Hearing Loss
The Museum is in the process of providing transcripts for media artworks as well as making American Sign Language interpretation available for public programs on request.  For inquiries, please contact [email protected] or call 518.442.4035.

Bathrooms
Accessible restrooms are located in the Fine Arts building, thirty feet from the Museum’s interior exits. Please notify Museum staff who can assist with interior exit and reentry. Restrooms at the University at Albany may be used by any person regardless of gender identity or expression. A list of single stall, gender inclusive restrooms can be found here.

The University at Albany Art Museum Collections Study Space (CSS) 
The Museum’s Collections Study Space is a multi-purpose space designed to safely house the University at Albany Fine Art Collections and simultaneously make them accessible to students, faculty, other researchers and scholars, and the community. The Collections Study Space serves as a viewing and study gallery for fine art in a classroom context and is equipped with accessible research stations. CSS is located on the first floor of the Fine Arts building in room FA 121, approximately 110 feet from the Museum’s interior, first level exit.

A safe space is a space where the LGBTQI+ community can freely express themselves without fear. It is a space that does not tolerate violence, bullying, or hate speech towards the LGBTQI+ community.
