UAlbany’s Finish in Four Graduation Commitment

Earn Your Degree in Four Years at UAlbany

A typical full-time undergraduate student can take up to five or six years to complete a bachelor's degree. But, at the University at Albany, we know you’re anything but typical.

UAlbany's Finish in Four initiative is our commitment to help you earn your bachelor's degree in four years.

If you sign the Finish in Four pledge and fulfill all requirements but still aren’t able to graduate in four years, UAlbany will provide you the opportunity to complete the needed courses free of tuition and Comprehensive Fee charges.

A large group of UAlbany graduates cheers happily, their arms raised.

I agree to:
  • Make my academic success my priority.
  • Follow the curricular plan for my declared major upon matriculation at the University. (This includes meeting academic review standards specific to my major.)
  • Make sure I have a declared and approved major by the end of my second year (or completion of 60 credits).
    • Note: If you change your major, the terms of the Finish in Four pledge will remain only if the academic advisors for your new major confirm that you can still graduate within four years of your original matriculation date at the University.
  • Earn at least 30 credits each academic year and maintain good academic standing as determined by the University’s Committee on Academic Standing.
  • Declare a minor (if I choose a minor) prior to the start of my junior year, or on the completion of 60 credits) and not change my minor after declaring it.
  • Register for classes on the first day of my enrollment date and contact my academic advisor within one week of my enrollment date if I am unable to register for a required class in the curricular plan for my major.
  • Only drop or add a class after consulting with my academic advisor.
  • Remain continuously enrolled for four years (fall and spring terms).
  • Communicate with my academic advisor at least once each semester and seek assistance immediately when I experience academic difficulty.
  • Read my UAlbany email daily.
  • Monitor my academic progress regularly using EAB Navigate and respond to any academic alerts and/or advisor appointment requests in a timely manner.
  • Respond proactively to suggested interventions and to recommendations to use resources that will assist me personally or academically in my progress to graduate in four years.
  • Carry out all academic and related tasks appropriately and on time (e.g. attending classes regularly, attending scheduled academic and related appointments, registering for classes in a timely manner, resolving holds on my academic record, completing financial aid applications/forms).
