Academic Coaching & Peer Mentoring

Peer-assisted Student Success (PASS) Mentoring Program

The PASS Mentoring Program matches first- and second-year students with peer mentors who can help with managing academics, adjusting to campus life, getting involved and more.

Mentors are juniors and seniors who have experience navigating life as a Great Dane and want to help their peers explore all that UAlbany has to offer.

Academic Success Coaching

Academic Success Coaches work with students one-on-one to provide support, and success strategies for their courses. Success Coaches collaborate with academic departments to ensure students are equipped with the skills and resources they need to reach their goals.

Request a Coach

Once you request a coach, we’ll schedule you for an initial consultation. Some students come in just for one session and others work with a coach long-term. Together, we’ll work out a plan that fits your needs.

Students who participate in Academic Success Coaching can benefit from the following services:

  • Improve Your Grades & Study Skills: Discover strategies to better prepare for upcoming coursework and discuss ways to raise and then maintain your grade point average.

  • Connect with Campus Resources: Find the right resources for you and your needs, while strengthening your networking abilities.

  • Tackle Academic Barriers: Explore your unique strengths and weaknesses, acknowledge the challenges you’re facing in and out of the classroom and identify factors affecting your academic performance.

  • Boost Your Time Management & Organization: Consider how you’re spending your time and learn how to establish daily routines. Learn helpful tips, access supplies and resources, and prioritize your responsibilities.
