From shopping to movies, fine dining or concerts, students have plenty of options to explore in the Capital Region surrounding UAlbany.
The Capital Region is home to several notable museums and art venues, including the Albany EGG, Albany Institute of History and Art, Capital Repertory Theatre, the New York State Museum, The Palace Theatre.
Whether its fine ethnic cuisine, pizza, or quick service burger joints, the Capital Region is capable of serving all manner of tastes. What's more, UAlbany students can set up 'podium points' on their SUNYCard, which can be used at more than 40 off-campus businesses, including restaurants, pharmacies and gas stations.
Students interested in seeing the latest film at the box office can journey to any number of surrounding theatres, including IMAX offerings at Crossgates, stadium-style seating at Colonie Center, art-house options at the Spectrum 8, or check out a screen classic at the newly refurbished Madison Theater, just a few minutes walk from the downtown campus.
From the upscale Stuyvesant Plaza just a few short steps from the uptown campus, or a quick bus ride to Colonie Center or Crossgates Mall, the Capital Region offers a shopping destination to meet every taste and budget for UAlbany students.
A number of small business retailers can also be found walking distance from any of the University's campuses, particularly downtown.
