Meet Sara L. Bagrow, Online Programs Specialist
What is your role here at SPH?
As the Online Programs Specialist, I work closely with faculty and staff to assist and support new and continuing students from start to finish with completing their program requirements. This includes students in any of our three fully online certificate programs as well as the online MPH!
How did you become interested in online education?
Having been both a traditional student and an online student, I have a broad perspective and a strong understanding of the online learning experience. I am currently working towards a Master of Science in Education in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology at UAlbany and love the flexibility of distance learning!
What I like most about online education for students is the flexibility it provides for students to balance work, school and family. Many of our fully online students here at SPH note this flexibility was crucial to their decision to return to school!
What is your advice to those interested in online education?
Visit SUNY Online's FAQ page, including their Demo Course, which includes an Introduction to Online Learning, Online Success Strategies as well as information on "Getting Tech Ready". It's a wonderful introduction to the world of online learning. To learn about the fully online programs offered here at SPH, I highly recommend checking out the School of Public Health's Online Learning webpage! This informative website breaks down our online programming, helping interested students pick the best online learning path for them.
What's something that people might not know about you?
One of my favorite hobbies is gardening. In the winter, I am dreaming about next year's garden and impatiently awaiting the first spring flowers, especially my favorites - daffodils and forsythia!
