Signal Processing and Communications

Research Highlights

ECE Research Labs

Decision Making for Ambient INtelligence Environments (IMAgINE) Lab: Research in enabling intelligent surroundings by advancing and exploiting tools from machine learning, signal processing, communications and control. We work on a variety of interdisciplinary and innovative applications including but not limited to smart cities, safer online communities, intelligent transportation, e-health and agriculture.

Lighting Enabled Systems and Applications Research Center (LESA): Dedicated to developing autonomous intelligent systems to address modern challenges in the connected environment. LESA research integrates basic science and applied engineering with societal needs transforming how people live and work.

Signals and Networks Lab (SINE): The main research direction is to understand the principles of communication signals, networking and propagation channels to engineer a practical infrastructure for future 6G networks, Internet-of-Things (IoT) deployments and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) applications.

Microwave Remote Sensing Lab: Develops and tests theories and technologies regarding remote sensing of earth and space at microwave frequencies.

Mobile Emerging Systems and Applications Lab (MESA): Research in MESA Lab is highly interdisciplinary and employs concepts in Wireless Communication, Signal Processing, Machine Learning, Autonomous Systems, Cyber-Physical Systems and Hardware (FPGA and/or Embedded Systems).
