UAlbany’s CNSE Launches Career Fair for Engineering + CompSci Students

ALBANY, N.Y. (Sept. 11, 2026) — The College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering at the University at Albany is introducing a career fair designed for engineering and computer science students.
The CNSE Career Fair will connect those students — at both the undergraduate and graduate level — with global, national and regional companies that are seeking new employees and interns. By tailoring the event for like-minded students and companies, CNSE aims to broker stronger matches. Alumni are welcome too.
“Engineers and computer scientists are excellent problem solvers and can work in a wide variety of industries, but many students in these fields are looking for opportunities in companies that focus on advancing technologies and applications,” CNSE Dean Michele Grimm said. “Likewise, companies often need the particular skills that our students possess, like using advanced tools to support the development of new solutions.
“Our students also bring curiosity, creativity, resilience and a commitment to apply science and engineering in service to society — qualities that companies look for,” Grimm added. “So, connecting our students and these sorts of companies benefits both groups.”
The new fair will take place Sept. 23 at ETEC, UAlbany’s Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurship Complex and home of CNSE’s Department of Environmental & Sustainable Engineering.
More than a dozen companies are expected to attend, many of which have a presence in the Capital Region. They include IBM, GlobalFoundries, Tokyo Electron Limited, Philips Healthcare, CSArch, NY Creates, Swagelok, Tighe & Bond, Wright-Pierce, Avangrid and Precision Industrial Maintenance. Each will have a table on the main floor of ETEC, which is at 1220 Washington Ave.
Company representatives will make brief presentations inside a classroom and talk to students at their tables. The event will start at 3 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.
CNSE offers four types of engineering programs — electrical and computer, environmental and sustainable, mechanical and mechatronic, and nanoscale — and two types of applied science programs — computer and nanoscale. Nearly all of its programs are offered at three levels: bachelor’s, master’s and PhD.
The College drew up its list of companies based on student suggestions and those who already employ UAlbany alumni, according to Ann Bruno, assistant dean for academic success and inclusive excellence at CNSE.
“This is a chance for undergrads and grad students to engage directly with these companies and discover the range of opportunities available to them,” Bruno said.

The new fair will compliment broader fairs that UAlbany offers, including a Science and Technology Job and Internship fair on Oct. 7 at the University’s Campus Center Ballroom and another CNSE career event in November.
