Courses
WCI Course Description: Isabelle’s Writing and Critical Inquiry course explores how using our linguistic resources, or the full range of our abilities with language, creates new meanings and connections in writing. Writing across languages and language varieties prepares us to engage in the writing process while also considering cultural competence (interacting across cultures), code-switching (altering how we communicate based on context), and social dynamics (how our roles and customs influence communication) to convey meaning. By embracing our linguistic diversity, we will expand possibilities for academic writing and develop our voice as writers while examining literary and scholarly texts as mediums for inquiry.

WCI Course (bilingual Spanish-English section): this section explores the range of our linguistic resources across both languages. Through embracing our bilingual and multilingual identities as hispanohablantes, we will actively engage with the rigors of critical thinking, the writing process, and inquiry-based learning to expand the boundaries of academic writing through our unique voices. While this is not a language-instruction course, we will use Spanish as a medium for inquiry and support students at their current proficiency as bilingual/multilingual learners—native, heritage, or second-language learners of Spanish alike. (Note: you'll need to reach out to your advisor if you are interested in registering for this section.)
