Associate Professor Allison Appleton has been named director of the University at Albany’s Center for Healthy Aging. Launched in 2024, the Center brings together faculty, researchers, students and community partners to advance innovative research, workforce development and community collaborations aimed at promoting healthy aging and longevity.

The College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering at UAlbany hosted a free, two-week, hands-on training program from May 11-22 for college students, recent graduates and individuals seeking careers in energy storage, batteries and clean energy.

"This $1.3 billion federal investment in quantum computing innovation in the Capital Region once again proves what we’ve known for three decades: The road to the most powerful technologies of the future passes through Albany," Rodríguez said.

In just over a year, four groups of UAlbany researchers, students and Capital Region startups have moved through the Research & Innovators Startup Exchange (RISE), exploring what it takes to bring ideas beyond the lab and into the marketplace.

Nearly 5,000 students celebrated their graduation from the University at Albany this past weekend during the University’s 182nd commencement festivities, held Thursday, May 14, through Sunday, May 17. Among the graduates were an estimated 3,000 undergraduate students and 1,900 graduate students.

The University at Albany has received the inaugural Top Colleges for Innovation Award from Insight Into Academia magazine for its broad, institution-wide approach to innovation across research, academics, student success, community building, infrastructure and global partnerships.
