Heinz-Dieter Meyer

Dr. Heinz-Dieter Meyer is Professor of education governance, organization, and policy at the University at Albany. His current interests include comparative studies of higher education and the emerging regime of global education governance. Meyer has taught in France (INSEAD) and Germany (the University of Goettingen), and held visiting appointments at Peking University, Boston University, Penn State, and the East-West Institute, Honolulu. In 1989/90 he was the Sidney Harman Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He has published four books and over 50 articles in international journals of organization and education, including Organization Science, American Journal of Education, Teachers College Record, Comparative Education Review, Comparative Sociology, among others. His most recent publication include “PISA, Power, and Policy” (with A. Benavot) and "The Design of the University: German, American, and 'World Class'." (Routledge).
