Kumi-Yeboah Honored with Emerging Scholarship Award
Albany, NY (April 14, 2018) - Alex Kumi-Yeboah, Educational Theory and Practice, was selected by the Multicultural / Multiethnic Education (MME) Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) as 2018 recipient of the Dr. Carlos J. Vallejo Memorial Award for Emerging Scholarship. -
Lawson Named Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient
Albany, NY (April 5, 2018) – Hal A. Lawson, an internationally recognized scholar whose body of work reflects his deep commitment to meeting the needs of vulnerable populations and their communities, has been named the inaugural recipient of the University at Albany President's Award for Lifetime Achievement in Public Engagement. He will be celebrated with his fellow Exemplary Public Engagement Award winners on April 30.

Opening Gateways through English
Albany, NY (April 5, 2018) - Distinguished Professor Istvan Kecskes was selected by the U.S. State Department to deliver two weeks of lectures, April 30 to May 12, at the University of Belgrade on the subject of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF). Such international State Department assignments are given to only about 80 English language specialists each year.

Trolian Named an ACPA Emerging Scholar
Albany, NY (March 19, 2018) - Teniell Trolian, Educational Policy & Leadership, has been named a 2018 Emerging Scholar by the ACPA-College Student Educators International. Trolian is one of five Emerging Scholars selected from around the country. -
A Dark Horse Winner
Albany, NY (March 1, 2018) — Back in Fall 2016, the School of Education unveiled its first undergraduate major in some 40 years — the first ever in something other than teacher education. It anticipated interest from students in a range of academic fields, education-based and otherwise — it received that and more. -
CDWP Invitational Summer Institute 2018
Join us! Applications are due March 16.
During the Capital District Writing Project's Invitational Summer Institute (July 9-20) teachers immerse themselves in their own writing and in the study of effective teaching. Gathering on the UAlbany campus, teachers study current research and theory, share strategies for teaching writing, and engage in collaborative inquiry. Participants can earn up to 70 CTLE hours. -
Johnston Honored with Literacy Research Award
Albany, NY (February 15, 2018) – Peter Johnston, professor emeritus in Literacy Teaching and Learning, received the 2017 Oscar S. Causey Award from the Literacy Research Association for outstanding contributions to literacy research. -

School of Education is a ‘Top-10’ in U.S. Online Education
Albany, NY (January 9, 2018) — With today’s release of U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 rankings, the University at Albany retains its position among America’s elite in providing online graduate study in the field education. The publication’s “2018 Best Online Education Programs” lists UAlbany’s School of Education in a tie for 8th among 309 institutions offering online master’s degree programs in education — the School’s second straight ranking in the top-10.
