The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is located in the CNSE Downtown Building in the former Albany (Schuyler) High School, an innovative academic and research facility that embraces rich architectural history right in the heart of Albany. Equipped with modern interactive classrooms and state-of-the-art teaching laboratories and equipment, the CNSE Building is a shining example of how the University is incorporating innovative technologies into its construction projects while strengthening its academic offerings for students.

The VEX IQ Robotics competition is designed to spark interest in STEM. Cultivating engineers is central to the mission of CNSE, which offers degrees in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, environmental and sustainable engineering, nanoscale science and nanoscale engineering.
Mustafa Aksoy, an associate professor in UAlbany’s College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering, is part of a large research team that was awarded a two-year, $1.1 million grant to develop radio frequency interference detection and mitigation strategies for future U.S. weather and climate satellites.
The University at Albany is launching new and expanded opportunities next year for students to study abroad in South Korea, Spain and France. Students will also have new opportunities to earn dual degrees through Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in South Korea and Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) in Spain.
UAlbany students developed wearable haptic devices that provide navigation assistance to the visually impaired as part of the College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering’s 10-week Summer Undergraduate Research Program.
