Jeff Offutt
About

Jeff Offutt joined the University at Albany in August 2023. Prior to joining UAlbany, he was Professor and Associate Chair of Computer Science at George Mason University. He spent 31 years at George Mason, where he designed the Master's Program in Software Engineering, the PhD program in Computer Science, and numerous courses. He is widely known for seminal research on mutation testing, web application testing, dynamic symbolic execution, and model-based testing.

He was editor-in-chief of the journal of Software Testing, Verification, and Reliability; co-authored the book Introduction to Software Testing; and co-founded the IEEE International Conference on Software Testing. He has published more than 200 research papers, received several major awards for both research and teaching, and been awarded two Most Influential Papers and an ACM Notable paper.
