Promoting Your News & Events

The Office of Communications and Marketing is available to both counsel and assist faculty, departments and student organizations in the promotion of their news and events through vehicles such as press releases, feature stories and event announcements.

It may be useful to schedule a meeting with our team early in your planning process so that an effective communications plan can be developed. This will ensure the timely production and dissemination of your news.

To help avoid conflicts with major college events, please check the scheduled events list on this page.

To streamline the communications planning process, please contact The Office of Communications and Marketing at (518) 956-8150 as soon as possible with the following information:

  • Your name, contact information and budget, as well as if your project will require use of a vendor (printer, photographer, advertising venue, etc.). Include the budget limits and account number.
  • What needs to be communicated: An event, award/recognition, research results, etc.
    Relevant dates: If an event, its scheduled date, when you need your information to be disseminated, the project completed, etc.
  • The details: Who, What, When, Where … and Why [significance of what you’re announcing] and the target audience(s).
  • What communications products you will need: Advertising, calendar announcements, electronic billboard announcements, news releases, e-newsletter announcements, programs, gift items, catering support, etc.
