What is a brand?

A brand is the sum of all impressions, thoughts and feelings held by customers, resulting in a distinctive position in their mind’s eye based on perceived emotional and functional benefits.

The University at Albany's brand is firmly rooted in our mission: “To empower our students, faculty and campus communities to author their own success.”

It is through our ability to unleash greatness, in all its forms, that we will realize our vision “to be the nation’s leading diverse public research university—providing the leaders, knowledge and innovations to create a better world.”

The world needs greatness and just as we did in 1844, it is all of us — the Great Danes — who will answer the call.

UAlbany uses Public Sans, Janson Text and Rational Display in its print media. Download Public Sans for free.

Website editors should use the fonts provided in the web template.

Institutional Brand Marks

UAlbany has two institutional brand marks:

  • Minerva: This is our primary brand mark. It is typically used when content relates to the Academic profile of the University.
  • Split A: This is our alternative brand mark. It is typically used when content relates to the Athletics profile or the Student Life profile of the University. The UAlbany A should never be used as the letter "A" within a word.

Variations of our logos can be downloaded for official University use. Available file formats include:

  • PNG (most popular): High resolution image file, transparent background, can be used for print or digital media
  • EPS: High resolution vector file, used for large-scale print media or for applications such as vinyl, embroidery, screen-printing, etc.
