Albany Community Police Review Board (CPRB)

The Center for Human Services Research was contracted from the Government Law Center at Albany Law School to conduct a study of the Albany Community Police Review Board (CPRB).

The Albany Community Police Review Board (CPRB) is an independent body established by the city of Albany in 2000 to improve communication between the Police Department and the community, to increase police accountability and credibility with the public, and to create a complaint review process that is free from bias and informed of actual police practice. CHSR conducted a formative evaluation and developed a performance monitoring system that provided the CPRB with regular feedback allowing them to identify problems, take timely action, and subsequently measure the success of the board as a means of generating positive outcomes in situations of community conflict.
