Session One
9:00-10:15am
Using Power Cards and Social Behavior Mapping to Support Pro-Social Behavior
- Participants will understand how the core and related characteristics of ASD relate to the need for visual supports and explicit instruction around behavior and social skills
- Participants will become familiar with the purpose and use of Power Card and Social Behavior Mapping supports
- Participants will be able to create either a Power Card or Social Behavior Map for their student(s) or child(ren)

1 contact hour for NYS Psychologists
Session Two
11:00am-12:15pm
Autism Awareness for School Transportation Personnel
- Increase knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, including core and related characteristics
- Recognize common behaviors seen in students with autism
- Learn prevention strategies to minimize unsafe or inappropriate bus behavior
Please note that CEUs are not offered for this session.
Session Three
1:00-2:15pm
Learning Better Ways to Cope: Teaching Individuals with ASD Skills to Replace Challenging Behaviors
- Identify reasons why it is necessary to teach coping skills to individuals with ASD
- Describe different techniques to assist individuals on the spectrum with anxiety and problem-solving difficulties
- Identify at least one strategy that could be taught to your child and used in a home and school environment
1.25 contact hours for NASP, NYS SW, LMHC and CTLE
1 contact hour for NYS Psychologists
1.5 contact hours for BCBA
Continuing Education Credits:
CARD Albany is an approved provider for the following continuing education:
School Psychologists (NASP), NYS Social Workers (LMSW & LCSW), NYS Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC), Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE), Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), and NYS Psychologists.
Session one and three are eligible for 1.25 contact hours for school psychologists, social workers, LMHC and CTLE and 1 contact hour for psychologists. Session two is not eligible for CEUs. Session three is eligible for 1.5 BCBA contact hours.
There is a $ 5.00 processing fee per session for each CEU selected. CEUs can be selected during registration and payment can be submitted online with a credit card.
Each organization/entity uses their own calculation to determine the number of CEUs based on contact hours. As with all continuing education, the attendee should verify CEU requirements by their professional organization and/or state licensure board. Partial credit will not be awarded. Participants must remain through the entire session(s) to receive credit.
