Project Management Fundamentals provides working professionals with the skills and knowledge required for successful project oversight and covers the basics of managing a project from inception to completion.
In this course, you will learn about defining business needs and project scope, critical success factors and key performance indicators, identifying the project team and stakeholders, defining key milestones and planning the project schedule, documenting requirements, meetings and communication, and tools.
Participants will be encouraged to bring real-world examples to sessions that can be used throughout the course for individual work and group discussions.
Who should enroll?
This course will cover the fundamentals of project management primarily for working professionals who are seeking a basic understanding of key concepts. No prior project management experience is required.
What to expect
This instructor-led, cohort-based course is comprised of six synchronous sessions, as well as self-paced work completed before and after each session.
The learning format is a mix of interactive online sessions, short readings and videos, with brief weekly knowledge checks and discussion posts. You will also discuss strategies with your fellow learners as a full cohort and/or in small breakout groups.
Although this is a not-for-credit course, participants will be expected to complete all assignments and actively participate in required discussion posts and in Zoom session discussions.
Capstone Project
You will use a provided project management template (Word document) to plan a project of your choice. You will provide drafts and a final version of your project management template to the instructor and develop a class presentation based on your work.

Completion Requirements
To successfully earn a Credly badge, you must:
- Complete all assignments
- Attend all sessions (or complete asynchronous make-up assignments)
- Complete project deliverables and capstone presentation
Technology Requirements
You will be expected to access BrightSpace, a digital learning environment, for course content. The program will include synchronous Zoom sessions so you will be expected to have a computer with audio and video capability.

Session Dates & Times
The program will meet online using Zoom from 6 to 7:30 p.m. ET on six consecutive Tuesdays: April 7, 14, 21, 28, and May 5 and 12, 2026.
