About

Alvaro Carrascal, MD, MPH is Emeritus Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, University at Albany. Until 2017, Dr. Carrascal worked at the American Cancer Society as Vice President for Cancer Control at the Eastern Division. From 1988 to 2011, he worked for the New York State Department of Health’s AIDS Institute, serving as Director of Clinical Education, Deputy Medical Director, Director of the Bureau of HIV Ambulatory Care, and Director of the Division of HIV and Hepatitis Health Care. Given his interest in global health, he has worked as consultant, visiting professor or lecturer in Costa Rica, Colombia, Nicaragua, and South Africa.
