Lecture Center - Shutdown of Fire Protection Water Service

Dear Members of the UAlbany Community,

Please be advised of the following work taking place on the Academic Podium. There will be a shutdown of the Fire Protection water service on the Podium on Wednesday, January 7th, from 5:00am until 4:00pm. This work is needed to remove and replace fire hose cabinets in LCs 23, 24 and 25 as part of the Lecture Center Renovation.  
Work is expected to begin on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 5:00 AM and is expected to be completed by Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 4:00 PM.

Critical Work Description or Scope:

There will be a shutdown of the Fire Protection water service on Podium for the removal and replacement of fire hose cabinets in LCs 23, 24 and 25. There will also be a tie-in of a new sprinkler system.

The plumbing shop staff will be assisting/supporting the contractors during the shutdown. Please note that the domestic water service to the Podium will remain active for bathrooms, kitchens, drinking fountains, etc. during this timeframe.
