IQ Common's Pedestrian Crossing Improvements

Work Alert Notification

Dear Members of the UAlbany Community,

Please be advised of the following work occurring on the Uptown Campus within and adjacent to Indigenous Commons between the Academic Podium, Campus Center, Visitor Parking, and Indigenous Quad. Work will primarily take place along Chemistry Lane, Life Sciences Lane, and Indigenous Drive.  Accessible parking on Center Drive East and Emergency access will remain open during this multi-phased summer project.  Stay tuned for additional phased announcements over the summer. This work is necessary to support safer pedestrian crossings and movements from the Indigenous Quad.  This work will include removing parking within the commons along Indigenous Drive and Chemistry Lane with the addition of a sidewalk, new crosswalks, and pavement markings where pedestrians will be encouraged to use these pathways toward the Campus Center, Academic Podium adjacent parking lot.
Work is expected to start Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 7:00 AM with no parking signs in place and additional phased updates and alerts will be provided as needed through Friday, August 8, 2025, as work details are scheduled.

Provide safer pedestrian sidewalks and access from Indigenous Quad to Campus Center and Academic Podium while removing and relocating existing parking and significantly reducing vehicular conflict areas.
