Renovate University Library

The University Library's stacks of books in the Quiet Zone, near the North Elevator.

Background/Overview

The University Library, constructed in 1966, is a roughly 300,000 gross square foot (GSF), five-story building. The building serves as the primary campus library and has not undergone a major renovation since its original construction. The building systems and components are at the end of their useful lives and in poor condition.

The project will also include an embedded program study that will identify the program and inform the design of the University Library renovation and evaluate the Science Library and Hawley Library for potential consolidation of space within University Library.

The University’s Facilities department will be working with the State University Construction Fund and the consulting firm Annum Architects on this project.

General Scope

Renovations will include replacement of all interior finishes and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The Project includes the removal of hazardous materials and will provide upgrades to meet current code and ADA requirements.

Status

The project team is currently performing the program study.
