Michelle Cravetz

Michelle joined the Center for Public Health Continuing Education in September 2010 as the Nurse Planner for the Public Health Nurse Ready Certificate Program. She has also served CPHCE as an instructor for Field Epidemiology 201, program coordinator for the Immunization Detailing Project and a content expert for online courses. Prior to joining CPHCE, Michelle worked as a Health Specialist for the New York State Head Start/Early Head Start Training and Technical Assistance Center and was the first Executive Director for the Association of State and Territorial Directors of Nursing (ASTDN).  She spent over thirty years in government service, first at a local health department, and later for the New York State Department of Health. 

She specializes in maternal and child health and maintains certification as an advanced public health nurse and a pediatric nurse. Throughout her professional career, she has been an advocate for the vulnerable populations she served. Her interests are in health policy, especially relating to maternal and child health and oral health; advocacy; program evaluation; and continuing and advanced education for public health professionals. She is active in the American Public Health Association, the Association of Public Health Nurses, and the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators. She is co-author of the Quad Council Competencies for Public Health Nurses and is an adjunct faculty for Keuka College’s Nursing Program. 

Michelle graduated with honors from Keuka College with a major in nursing and earned her master’s degree in parent-child nursing and administration at Russell Sage College.
