About

Dr. Dorabawila's current research cuts across multiple areas related to surveillance including syndromic surveillance, vaccine effectiveness, vaccine coverage, cannabis and racial and ethnic disparities. In these areas her work includes focusing on data quality and completeness. 

She serves as the Director of the Bureau of Surveillance and Data Systems within New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) where she oversees several mission critical surveillance systems including the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS), Electronic Syndromic Surveillance System (ESSS), Electronic Clinical Laboratory Reporting System (ECLRS) and Communicable Disease Electronic Surveillance System (CDESS). 

Her previous work included child welfare (New York State Office of Children and Family Services), homelessness (New York City Department of Homeless Services) and economic development (The World Bank).
