About
Ran Meng, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University at Albany. She directs the Meng Lab, which integrates multi-omics and biomedical imaging to understand how genetic variation shapes tissue architecture, cellular interactions and disease dynamics.
Prior to joining UAlbany, Dr. Meng completed her postdoctoral training at Yale University and earned her PhD from Texas A&M University.
The Meng Lab is actively recruiting PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and undergraduate researchers.
Research
Research Interests
Dr. Meng's research focuses on:
- Developing statistical and deep-learning frameworks that integrate whole-slide histology with genomic and transcriptomic data to predict molecular state from tissue morphology
- Characterizing cell-type–specific and spatially resolved gene regulation in the human brain, with an emphasis on psychiatric disorders and aging
- Applying statistical and computational methods to pathogen genomics, integrating health data to support the analysis of infection-associated tissue compartments and real-time outbreak surveillance
- Computational biology and bioinformatics
- Biomedical imaging and multi-omics integration
- Neurogenomics and brain disease
