Upcoming Accessibility Requirements

March 2, 2026

Dear Colleagues:

In recent years, the University has made strong progress in ensuring the accessibility of its electronic and digital resources. This spring, we will take the next steps to meet the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Effective April 24, 2026, all digital and electronic resources must meet accessibility standards. You will receive more information about our plans and next steps in the coming weeks.

Accessibility is a shared responsibility. Each of us plays an important role in making sure students, faculty, staff, and visitors can fully access, use, and experience University resources. Support is available to help all of us integrate accessibility into our daily work.

  • The University’s Electronic and Digital Technology (EIT) Committee has created resources that are available on our Accessibility website to guide all employees on how to integrate accessibility principles into our work.
  • More in-depth training is also available through a partnership between the University and Deque University. We want to encourage employees to take advantage of this opportunity. Training is particularly critical for employees who create student or public facing electronic or digital content.
  • The University’s Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Learning, and Online Education (CATLOE) provides additional guidance for faculty on creating accessible course materials and learning environments. Please take advantage of the resources and support CATLOE has to offer.

We want to thank the University’s Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) Committee, its co-chairs and the University’s EIT Officer for providing guidance and coordination to help ensure our digital environments meet accessibility requirements and reflect our commitment to inclusive excellence.

Creating an accessible digital and electronic environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is the responsibility of every one of us at the University. Thank you for your continued partnership and for championing accessibility across the University.

Sincerely,
