Trademarks & Licensing

UAlbany's Licensing and Trademark Services program works to ensure that the public properly identifies and associates University marks on products bearing the University’s logos, protects the use of the University’s name and symbols, and shares the benefits derived from commercial use of these identifying marks.

Licensed vendors

A licensed vendor must produce all products bearing a University trademark or copyright, regardless of the funding source (e.g. state, IFR, Research Foundation, or University Foundation funds) and whether for internal or external use. The University partners with CLC, who works with the Trademark and Licensing office at UAlbany to handle all activities generated by the licensing program. Activities include processing licensing applications, coordinating artwork approvals, collecting royalty payments and enforcing trademark infractions.

If the vendor you are interested in working with is not a licensed vendor and does not appear on the list above, contact the Trademark and Licensing Office at [email protected] to get help on how to fulfill your order.

Approval is mandatory for products bearing University logos

The University’s licensing director must approve all products bearing the University’s marks. Failure to obtain approval from the licensing director may result in the seizure of all non-approved merchandise and may also result in legal action.
