Collaborating Institutions
The Center for Biophotonic Technology and Artificial Intelligence (CeBAI) represents a close scientific collaboration that connects researchers from three countries to advance cutting-edge optical technologies.
CeBAI is a joint effort between:
- The University at Albany, State University of New York, in the United States (CeBAI Director and Distinguished Professor Igor Lednev)
- The Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology in Jena, Germany (Director and Professor Jürgen Popp)
- The Institute for Molecular Science and Fusion Technology at Kangwon National University in Gangwon, South Korea (Director and Professor Young Mee Jung)
Team Members
Igor Lednev, PhD
Founding Director
Igor Lednev is a Distinguished Professor in UAlbany's Department of Chemistry and an Adjunct Professor in UAlbany’s Department of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on the application of spectroscopic technology for medical diagnostics and forensics.
Jürgen Popp, PhD
Co-Director
Jürgen Popp is a Professor in the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena, Germany and a Scientific Director of the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) in Jena.
