Update on the Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region Exhibition

Since 1936, artists and art lovers have come together to celebrate our region’s rich arts and culture by contributing to, viewing, and hosting the annual Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region (AMHR) exhibition. The partnering institutions who have hosted the exhibition in the past—The Albany Institute of History & Art, The Hyde Collection, and The University Art Museum—announced in summer 2023 that we collectively made the challenging decision to not host an Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region exhibition moving forward. We recognize and appreciate that this is unwelcome news to our community.

A webinar held on December 11, 2023 brought together past participating artists and institutional leaders to discuss the reasons behind our decision. We also presented data and questions from regional artists by way of a survey that we hope will prove useful. We look forward to sharing this data and additional information with arts organizations and artists of the region who are considering hosting the AMHR in the future.

Please watch this page for updates, or email staff at one of the hosting institutions if you have questions.

Sincerely,
