Scott M. McGovern ’87 Memorial Scholarship recipient Tim Schmidt has his sights set on entering the field of wealth management after graduating from UAlbany. As a Financial Analysis and Financial Market Regulation dual major, he has found that the School of Business has given him a solid foundation to do just that. Schmidt, a junior, raves about his favorite professor. “Paul Glotzbecker is very challenging, but you get the feeling as a student that he really wants you to understand the class and material.” Schmidt has extended his business education beyond the classroom as well. He is a member of the business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and held an internship at ConEd, where he learned about public improvements and the data analysis behind decision-making.
Schmidt is grateful to be a McGovern Scholarship recipient. “This scholarship is very meaningful to me. It allows me not to worry about money and that is a major relief to me and my family.” Inspired by the generosity that provides assistance for his education, Schmidt would one day like to return to campus and share knowledge and advice with current students.
