Immersion Lab’s Jeremy Wins Third Place at ACM SIGGRAPH 2026 Student Research Competition

Congratulations to Jeremy Varghese, PhD student, on securing Third Place in the ACM SIGGRAPH 2026 Student Research Competition (Graduate Category) for the research project titled "Design and Evaluation of Mixed Reality Systems for Enhanced Overground Rehabilitation," authored by Jeremy Varghese, Aishwari Talhan, Amy Teale and Thenkurussi Kesavadas.

For this project, the Immersion Lab at UAlbany and Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady, NY, collaborated to explore how mixed reality systems can enhance rehabilitation outcomes and improve patient engagement during overground therapy. The study is ongoing at the Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center.

The research will be highlighted at SIGGRAPH 2026 and featured on the ACM SIGGRAPH Student Research Competition webpage. ACM SIGGRAPH stands out as one of the premier conferences in the field, attracting leading experts and innovators who are at the forefront of graphics and interactive techniques.
