About
Rees’ research harnesses bacterial electron transport mechanisms to synthesize semiconductor nanomaterials and create bioelectrochemical sensors under ambient conditions.
His work establishes a new platform for creating electronic devices and sensors that are more sustainable, adaptable and cost-effective. Beyond his technical work, he’s interested in citizen science, STEM education and social science perspectives on the practice of engineering.
He’s a member of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Society for the Social Studies of Science.
