Samuel Caldwell, MBA, is the Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion at the University at Albany, where he works in collaboration with campus partners to further a culture that values diversity and embraces equity and inclusion.
Sam has deep experience as a corporate professional in project management, problem-solving, issue resolution, lobbying, and risk mitigation. Sam has held management positions of increasing scope and responsibility in sales, customer care, public policy, government affairs, and operations, where he had profit/loss accountability. He is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, having led multidisciplinary project teams on process improvement initiatives, resulting in over $9 million in financial benefits.
Sam served honorably in the United States Coast Guard Reserves, most recently at the rank of Lieutenant.
His community and civic involvement include past service on the boards of directors of the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce, Bethlehem (NY) Chamber of Commerce, Senior Services of Albany and Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region. He is a life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Sam holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Rutgers University, an M.B.A. from Strayer University, has completed programs with the Rutgers Center for Management Development and the Center for Creative Leadership, and earned Certificates in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University and the University of South Florida.
