What is Purple Threads?
Purple Threads is a professional closet offering free professional clothing to current UAlbany students. Students are asked to show their ID at the entrance and are allowed to choose three pieces of clothing per semester.
Fall 2025 Hours
- Monday: 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
We are located in Campus Center, Room 323, on the west side of the building's third floor.
Students can also arrange an appointment, if necessary, by emailing the Purple Threads Coordinator.

How can I donate to Purple Threads?
We are accepting donations by appointment during our operating hours. Please contact Purple Threads Coordinator Julia Rasmussen at [email protected] to arrange a donation appointment.
All donated items are reviewed by staff to ensure they are appropriate. Only clean, gently used professional clothing without stains and tears will be accepted.
Note: Purple Threads is in dire need of men's suits, shirts, sport coats and dress pants in small, medium and large sizes.
