About the speaker:

Thomas Burke is the Jacob I. and Irene B. Fabrikant Professor and Chair in Health Risk and Society at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Burke's reward as the 2020 Axelrod Prize recipient in Public Health showcases his significant contributions to the field of public health at the intersection of academia and government service. He has consistently made significant contributions to the field of public health in line with David Axelrod's vision to bring government health departments and academia together to improve the health of communities. As we celebrate 35 years of our School of Public Health, we are thrilled to honor Dr. Burke as the 2020 recipient of the Axelrod Prize in Public Health.
