MPH Student Helps Enroll Residents in Mandatory Quarantine

Monroe sits at a desk, his face covered by a mask. He holds his hand, covered by a purple latex glove, in a "thumbs up" position.

MPH student Monroe Marshall is volunteering at the Albany County Department of Health to help address the COVID-19 outbreak and was interviewed about this process by WAMC. View his interview on mandatory quarantine procedure here.

During his time at UAlbany, Monroe has interned at the Suicide Prevention Center of New York, organized focus groups on mental health services at UAlbany, developed suicide prevention surveys for SUNY administrators, helped to plan the New York State suicide prevention conference, completed hours as a Graduate Assistant, worked as the treasurer of the School's Graduate Student Organization.

“My goal is to work at Callen Lorde, an organization that provides programming and services pertaining to behavioral health, HIV, and transgender health,” says Monroe. “The experiences I’m gaining here at the University are propelling me toward this end result. Although I’m concentrating in epidemiology, I’m also exploring other areas of public health through electives, internships, and volunteer opportunities. All of these experiences will help me to better serve marginalized populations.”
