About

Thomas O'Grady, PhD, MPH, is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University at Albany, College of Integrated Health Sciences. Dr. O'Grady earned both his Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Public Health degrees from the University at Albany, College of Integrated Health Sciences. His primary role is as an AIDS Program Manager and Section Director in the Center for Program Development, Implementation, Research, and Evaluation (CPDIRE) within the AIDS Institute at the New York State Department of Health. 

Dr. O'Grady currently manages, oversees, and leads research, evaluation, and quality management projects for CPDIRE and the AIDS Institute. He also provides policy development related to CPDIRE's academic collaborations. Dr. O'Grady has contributed to several research and evaluation projects associated with the AIDS Institute's research agenda and the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative in New York State, as well as quality improvement initiatives with the Office of Quality Improvement. 

Before assuming his current role, Dr. O'Grady served as New York State's Case Surveillance Coordinator. In that capacity, he was responsible for managing New York State's HIV case surveillance registry and oversaw a team of approximately 40 public health professionals. Dr. O'Grady ensured all deliverables related to the CDC's National HIV Surveillance System (NHSS) grant requirements were fulfilled.
