Updated tasks and strategic priorities for UAlbany's HIV Center

Below you will find ongoing tasks that UAlbany's HIV Center has prioritized for the upcoming months and year. Despite developing the center during a pandemic, CCHRPP is proud to announce that many tasks have been completed or are now considered ongoing work within the center. We would like to thank CCHRPP's members, UAlbany staff, affiliate faculty, the NY Department of Health, and other academic partners for being part of our efforts and helping them come to fruition.  If you would like to find out more information about the status of these goals, please email [email protected].

 

CCHRPP Priorities Task Specifics/Details
Strategic Priority A: Develop Evidence-Base through Research and Evaluation 
  • Engage affiliated faculty  
  • Assist with development of AIDS Institute Center for Program Development, Implementation, Research and Evaluation research agenda
  • HIV Seminar series 
  • Hold initial call to discuss research collaborations, COVID/HIV research underway, AI research agenda and connections, and seminars
  • Help with planning of meeting if needed, convene to discuss items that should be on AI research agenda
  • Host at least 3 seminars each semester at SPH and circulate relevant seminars from SUNY Downstate and other CCHRPP partners 
Strategic Priority B: Strengthen Career Development 
  • Develop graduate certificate program
  • Coordinate student internship program with AI
  • Improve recruitment and retention of doctoral students at SPH 
  • Develop and submit graduate certificate program in HIV studies
  • Collect internship proposals, host virtual seminar, plan orientation and presentation days each semester
  • Utilize HIV Studies Award for recruitment of doctoral students 
Strategic Priority C: Leverage and Expand Collective Capacity 
  • Maintain inventory of academic and programmatic assets
  • Assist with development of AIDS Institute Center for Program Development, Implementation, Research and Evaluation research agenda
  • Update list of current research and grants each semester
  • Help with planning of meeting if needed, convene to discuss items that should be on AI research agenda
Strategic Priority D: Establish Thought Leadership 
  • Assist with planning for NYSDOH AI Virtual ETE Conference
  • Participate in metric meeting to discuss ETE (End the Epidemic) metrics
  • Highlight leading efforts on response to COVID-19 and other emerging diseases 
  • Help with planning of meeting. Details to come
  • Advise on future ETE metrics and discuss impact of COVID on ETE
  • Include relevant publications and press on CCHRPP website and other outreach 
Strategic Priority E: Develop Sufficient Infrastructure

Cross-cutting Strategic Priority F: Identify and Build Strategic Alliances and Partnerships 

Reach out to NYU CDUHR regarding formal partnership 

We have held previous conversations with CDUHR members and Dean Healton during which we have discussed a CCHRPP-CDUHR partnership. In light of COVID collaborations, it seems even more timely to formalize this partnership

Improve diversity among CCHRPP affiliated faculty 

Invite new additional faculty members to improve diversity and inclusion among CCHRPP faculty
