Christine K. Wagner

Christine K. Wagner is the Interim Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School, and a Professor in the Department of Psychology.

With more than 20 years of distinguished service to the University, Dr. Wagner has held numerous leadership roles, including director of the Behavioral Neurosciences Doctoral Program, graduate director of the Department of Psychology, and associate vice provost for Faculty Development in the Office of the Provost. In the latter role, Dr. Wagner helped facilitate 49 faculty searches and co-led the Provost’s Leadership Academy, a program designed to engage associate professors and early full professors in leadership development. She currently serves as a co-principal investigator on a $1 million National Science Foundation ADVANCE grant to facilitate the recruitment, retention, and success of women in STEM. 

A behavioral neuroscientist, Dr. Wagner’s research is focused on neural development and behavior, and she has received significant funding from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the National Science Foundation, among others, for her work. An engaged faculty mentor, she worked closely with the students in her lab, graduating 10 doctoral students, several of whom received NIH pre-doctoral awards. 

Dr. Wagner is the recipient of numerous honors, including three Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in teaching, faculty service, and scholarship and creative activities. An active presence on campus, she has served the UAlbany community in many roles, including chair of the University Senate and co-chair of the president’s task force on diversity and inclusive excellence.
