About UAlbany’s Partnership with the Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management

The University at Albany is expanding its global impact in India through a knowledge partnership with the Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM), a new skill-focused university in Bengaluru designed around outcome-based education, translational research and workforce-aligned learning.  

Through the one-of-a-kind partnership, UAlbany will provide guidance and consultation on curriculum and faculty development as RISM develops academic programs and research opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), as well as management.

Together, UAlbany and RISM are creating new opportunities for students, faculty and researchers in New York and India to learn, teach and collaborate.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to innovation, strengthening both institutions and preparing graduates to contribute to technology-driven societies around the world.

The collaboration builds on UAlbany’s strengths in computer science, engineering, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and semiconductors, and creates a framework for both institutions to explore faculty exchanges, student coursework, internships, service-learning activities and research opportunities.  

It also reflects UAlbany’s broader commitment to preparing students for a global, innovation-driven economy through international academic, research and workforce partnerships.

RISM's Academic Model

RISM’s academic model is designed to connect classroom learning to real-world applications through industry-aligned programs, capstone projects, hands-on training and translational research.  

As RISM launches programs in areas such as computer science, electrical engineering and aerospace engineering, UAlbany’s expertise will help support the development of dynamic, skills-focused academic offerings that prepare students for emerging technology fields.

    UAlbany traveled to India this week to mark a new milestone in its partnership with the Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM), joining university officials, academic leaders and industry partners for the formal launch of the new STEM and management university in Bengaluru. The launch highlighted UAlbany's role as a knowledge partner to RISM, providing guidance on curriculum and faculty development.
