Professional Interests

Dr. Cusick Brix's professional interests include clinical training and supervision, peer education and peer support, student leadership development, sport psychology, and research in the areas of multiculturalism and social justice in psychology. As Assistant Director for Peer Services and Director of the Middle Earth Peer Assistance Program, Megan is passionate about the role of peer educators in creating a supportive campus community, reducing stigma surrounding mental health, and helping students connect with resources and one another. Clinical interests include working with first-generation students, individuals navigating difficult transitional periods, and those experiencing first onset of mental illness. As a former collegiate athlete and coach, Megan also enjoys working with student athletes to address mental health concerns, promote well-being, and optimize sport performance.

Approach to Therapy

Dr. Cusick Brix believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is paramount in therapy and works hard to help clients feel comfortable when seeking services at CAPS. Her work is guided by cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and psychodynamic approaches, while recognizing the unique needs, strengths, and experiences of each individual. She also seeks to understand the ways in which cultural identities, social contexts, and systems of oppression influence a person's experience in treatment and in the world.

Approach to Wellness

Dr. Cusick Brix enjoys playing softball and volleyball, watching sports (especially the Yankees and Giants), spending time with family and friends, and indulging in her favorite guilty pleasure, reality television.
